CONTRIBUTE
This is a time of economic unrest and suffering unmatched in nearly eight decades. Montgomery County’s historic commitment to people in need has seldom been as tested as it is today. Our national safety net is frayed, our local fiscal situation is perilous, and the number of County residents in pain and economic hardship grows by the day. Now is the time for those of us who are able to help our neighbors in need.
A very generous donor who wishes to remain anonymous has given us a special opportunity. With his pledge of $100,000, the
Montgomery County Community Foundation has established a
Neighbors in Need Montgomery Fund. The gift is contingent upon the Foundation raising matching funds. Once the $100,000 has been raised, the $200,000 emergency safety net preservation funds will be allocated on a quick turnaround basis to a network of community groups organized to meet the most critical emergency needs -- food, clothing, and shelter -- of vulnerable people in targeted neighborhoods of need. We saw in the Obama for President campaign the power of small contributions. In addition to contributions from individuals like you, corporate, foundation, and other gifts will be sought and acknowledged. We encourage companies to offer to match employee contributions.
